These are my can’t live without winter essentials. This isn’t a capsule or a suggestion that anyone should only have a certain number of pieces for each season. Rather, this is what I would suggest as a ‘starter kit’ for building a streamlined winter wardrobe. Keep in mind that yours will be different because it will suit your personal style and day to day requirements.
Sharing my favorite pieces and products with you is something that brings me genuine joy; however, I also want to help you identify your personal style! I hope to use my understanding of style (the psychology and nuances of it) to help you transcend the multitude of trends, fast fashion and low quality options. The goal is for you to overcome these obstacles in favor of building a working wardrobe that you have intentionally created and absolutely love!
Imagine not stressing about what to wear and having abundant mental energy left for the other important aspects of your life. Sign me up, right?!
It is a process of honing your instincts for what makes you feel your best vs. what you like on others. This journey involves identifying what aesthetic you are drawn to and then learning what works for your body type and lifestyle. Your clothes need to be wearable, versatile, and appropriate for your daily activities.
Throughout the life of this blog, I will share my experiences, as well as tips for identifying your personal style and key pieces. I have overcome a great deal of wardrobe woes, and have experienced the light at the end of the tunnel. My prayer is that I can help you do the same because there are so many positive benefits to reap from feeling good about your style.
Shall we get into it?!

The links above are the exact pieces I have in my wardrobe except where I have noted similar. I do not believe in providing links to pieces or items that I don’t either have and love, or would currently buy for myself.

A few things to note…
First, I have not included outerwear (post for another day) in this wardrobe builder. My leather motorcycle jackets are part of my outfits during the colder months. I wear them like I would wear a blazer because I love them too much to put them away for the duration of the looooong New England winter season!!! If you know me, you know these jackets are in the mix year round.
Next, a good chunk of my wardrobe is from Quince . If Quince is new to you…this online retailer offers very high quality pieces at phenomenal price points. I have found the need to size way up when I am looking for an oversized fit (which is most of the time). For example, my leather jackets are L and XL. I get either a L or XL in Quince cashmere. The silk runs true to size, as well as the cotton tanks and t-shirts. It seems like the cotton and wool sweaters run a bit roomier than the cashmere and the jackets. I wear a medium in most Quince bottoms. For reference, I’m 135lbs, 5ft 6in, athletic build with broad shoulders and long limbs. A bit too much info, but I want you to be able to get the fit you’re looking for without the hassle of returns (even though returns are easy with Quince). The good news is that sizing up resolves the tiny situation for those of us that are not petite.

Although finding ‘the one’ is harder than you’d think… white t-shirts & tank tops that you love are absolutely essential!!! I prefer 100% cotton. I’ve linked a few of my favorites below!

Hopefully this will be a helpful start to building a wardrobe you love. Rest assured, though, this is only the beginning of a rewarding journey that will provide valuable insight and growth on many levels.
One more important piece of personal style and every aspect of life, is talking to Jesus about it. There is no element of your life that he doesn’t want to be invited into. Can you pray about your wardrobe? Yes, you can and you absolutely should!
